Management systems

ISO 9001

The need to extend into the international market and better opportunities for export made OJSC “Savushkin Product” pay attention to introducing control systems to conform the requirements of ISO 9000. The tradition of producing a quality product was already established at the enterprise back in 1988 when “Savushkin Product” introduced the Integrated Control System. However, the system mostly concerned manufacturing requirements and improving the quality of production and labour and did not cover such areas as marketing research, product development and quality planning.

This is why in 2002 the engineering team of the enterprise was assigned to make the existing control systems fit the requirements of ISO 9000. Due to hard work of  the team OJSC “Savushkin Product”  was the first diary producer in Belarus to receive the certificate of conformity to the requirements of Standard of the Republic of Belarus ISO 9001-96. However, the enterprise did not stop at having certified their control system. The team learnt very well that it is impossible to satisfy the consumer without constant improvement of the quality management system. “Savushkin Product” continued work and in 2003 it had no difficulty introducing a new version of Standard of the Republic of Belarus ISO 9001-2001 and successfully certified their quality management system.

Reception of the conformity certificate became the first actual step towards better recognition of the enterprise both on the home and the international market.

By using the quality management system the company “Savushkin Product” confirms its stable position, available policy and good managing abilities of the company’s top management.

Quality management system is nothing fixed or unchangeable. It provides opportunities for constant improvement in accordance with changing demands of the client and assures the consumer’s right choice of high quality product.

System HACCP

“Savushkin Product” primarily aims at quality assurance. However, we can’t speak of the food “quality” if we don’t consider the basic parameters of the food “safety”. Food safety is an ongoing process which involves a whole range of specific actions and procedures. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system is universally recognized as the best control system for food quality and safety. HACCP principles in the food industry are legally obliged in most European Union countries and adopted by the local legislation in a number of other countries as well. Since 2003 OJSC “Savushkin Product” has been following HACCP principles, as well, and certified their control system of quality and food safety based on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) in accordance with the requirements of the national standard of the Republic of Belarus 1470.

The basic point of HACCP System is to mark out certain stages in a manufacturing process and to apply control at each stage. This way the risk of producing a “bad” product is reduced after each stage and is practically equal to zero at the end of the food manufacturing process. Thus, HACCP System is some kind of instruction on self-controlling measures which an enterprise develops and then accomplishes.

ĶĄŃŃŠ is a system designed for determining food safety hazards (any biological, physical or chemical properties which may influence its safety) and for establishing measures to control them.

ISO 14001

Since 2004 Savushkin Product has worked according to principles of environmental management system ISO 14001.

It allows the company:

  • to minimize the negative environmental impact of production;
  • to reduce the emergency risks;
  • to save natural resources by using them more rationally;
  • to reduce wastes.

OHSAS 18001

Since 2006 PJSC Savushkin Product has applied the occupational safety and health management system OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series), indented for creating safe working conditions within the company’s general management system.

This system allows the company:

  • to control hazardous production factors;
  • to manage risks arising in production;
  • to prevent accidents, emergency and contingencies;
  • to reduce loss from inappropriate actions.

ISO 22000

In January 2009, PJSC Savushkin Product certified its manufacturing and storage safety management system of dried dairy products for compliance with STB ISO 22000-2006.

This system takes into consideration that food hazards can arise at any step of the food chain, and the food chain includes a wide range of organizations from feed and primary raw materials manufacturers to retailers to public caterers. In this connection, an interactive information exchange is essential for ensuring that all relevant food safety hazards have been identified and adequately controlled at each step of the food chain.
Thus, food safety is provided by joint efforts of all parties in the food chain.

The safety management system comprises the following generally accepted basic elements vital for ensuring food safety throughout the whole food chain down to consumer:

  • the interactive information exchange, including the traceability system (a data system to track the product from the raw materials supplier to the end user) and unsafe product withdrawal procedure
  • management system
  • prerequisite programs (PP) that include basic conditions or activities to maintenain a hygienic environment appropriate for safe food manufacture, and
  • ĶĄŃŃŠ principles.

The introduction of this system allows the company to focus on food safety as a top priority, and to plan preventive measures instead of waiting until these problems arise.
